Many people have minor degrees of knee malalignment, commonly called having knock-knees or being bow-legged. When the deformity is more pronounced, it can cause overloading of the outer or inner side of the knee. This often causes pain on the affected side of the knee. If treated early, it can prevent or delay the onset of arthritis, and prevent the need for a knee replacement.
Using special imaging and a sophisticated computer program, I can work out exactly where the deformity lies, and by how much to adjust the bone to correct the malalignment (corrective osteotomy). This provides a very personalised solution to an individual knee problem.
